Low E2?

I had my first blood work of the cycle today. My results are just so, so.

My E2 is an underwhelming 37.1. I don’t know if that’s really bad or not, but I do know it’s low. I have to up my Follistim to 150 for the next few days until my next blood test/ultrasound on Thursday. I was hoping for Wednesday, but I guess I’ll have to be patient. Gah!

I’m a little fearful that I’m going to be canceled for poor response. I suppose I’m feeling a little pessimistic after today’s results, I was hoping for great numbers out of the gate.

I’m hoping that if I’m going to be canceled, I’ll find out on Thursday. I don’t want to waste any more drugs than necessary if it’s all going to be a bust.

If anyone has any insight about day 3-4 E2 numbers, fill me in. I couldn’t find much on what it should be, except that higher numbers, like 80-100 seemed to be the norm. I realize that lower numbers probably should be expected, as I’m not trying to stimulate a large number of follicles, but still. Could this cycle turn around or is it doomed?

Unfortunately I don't know much about the E2 numbers. During my last IVF at the other doctor, they never gave me the numbers. Sorry.

I have to ditto what soapchick said. During this IVF cycle I was never told my E2 levels until a few days before retreival and at that point they were increasing each day. I wish I could help..and I'm hoping you get great numbers Thursday!

So sorry I can't be of any help. :( I've had low E2's and still had follies grow to a decent size afterwards. Dr. B just said it meant that the follies weren't big enough yet and we had to give them a boost.

Here are some happy thoughts.

I am a little confused. Are you cd 3 of your cd or cd3 of meds? If your are cd3 of your cycle than E2 should be low. If it is too high then you cannot start stims. I always started stims on cd 3 (with af being cd1) and then continued for about 8-12 days depending on the cycle and the dose. My cd3 E2 was always in the low 20's - but that was with no stims. After three or four days of stims my E2 was about 150 when I was on 150 of Follistim, and about 400 when I was on 225, but also have PCOS and too many follicles. Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone.

Kim, I was both cd 3 of my cycle and my meds. I guess because of the different protocol, I started them earlier than most IVF's.

You did answer my question in a round about way. I guess I just need to keep my fingers crossed that the higher dose of Follistim will help.

Wish I had some answers for you but my clinic monitoring consists solely of scans with no blood tests. I hope it all works out for you :)
